Ability to use and critically analyze the cornerstone classic and contemporary sociological theories.

Social Science Research Methods

Ability to use and critically analyze qualitative and quantitative social-science research methods. Critically evaluate study designs and methodology employed in contemporary scholarly work within the discipline.

Concentrations

Describe and discuss the core principles, issues and themes within the general sociology track or one of the 3 sociology concentrations offered within the major.

Public Sociology

Connect sociological training with larger ideas of peace, social justice and foster a respect for community service and community-service learning.

Fundamental Competency

Demonstrate functional writing, reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
