Loredana Di Martino joined the faculty in 2010. She teaches Italian language, culture and literature. Previously, she held positions at Georgetown University and at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research focuses on modern and contemporary Italian literature, in particular on modernism, postmodernism, and the relationship between contemporary forms of poetic and philosophical realism. She has also worked on language pedagogy and teaching with technology.
Lodovica Guidarelli joined the Department of Languages and Literatures in 2011. She previously held positions at the University of California, San Diego, San Diego Mesa College, and Colby College. She has taught all levels of Italian language, as well as upper-division literature and interdisciplinary courses. Her areas of expertise include modern and contemporary Italian literature, visual arts, and cinema. She is interested in the interaction between words and images as they engage in the discourse on the representation of reality and truth.

Professor Hepp teaches elementary and intermediate Italian at USD and local community colleges. She also taught lowe-r and upper-division Italian courses and courses on Italian Civilization for the Humanities Department at San Diego State University. Recently, she served as the coordinator for Italian in a series of workshops on SLO (Student Learning Outcome) offered by Grossmont Community College.
Silvia A. Metzger has been a member of the faculty at USD since 1997. She has been teaching elementary and intermediate courses of Italian in the Department of Languages and Literatures and she has taught a class of Italian for the USD summer abroad program.

Emanuela Patroncini has been an Italian instructor at USD since 2002. She teaches lower and upper division classes.
Born and raised in Italy, she is enthusiastic about sharing the language, culture and way of life of her country. Her classroom ischallenging but offers a supportive environment that promotes peer cooperation and stimulates learning.
