Lori Watson, PhD, joined the USD faculty in 2007. She is currently assistant professor of philosophy and director of the Gender Studies Program.
Education
Dr. Lori Watson received her Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Illinois-Chicago in 2004.
Scholarly and Creative Work
Professor Watson’s areas of research include: political philosophy, feminist theory, and philosophy of law. Her primary area of research is concerned with articulating a theory of justice that is responsive to conditions of reasonable pluralism that constitute modern democracies while at the same time securing substantive gender equality. She has published several articles on this topic and is working on a book length project with Dr. Christie Hartley (GSU).
Teaching Interests
Professor Watson regularly teaches introduction to logic, philosophy of human nature, and introduction to gender studies. She also teaches upper division courses in ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of law, and feminism.
