WELCOME to the College of Arts and Sciences!

We aim to create an environment where students thrive and gain a comprehensive education - spanning the sciences, arts and social sciences.

As the liberal arts heart of the University of San Diego, our students are versatile and multitalented. No matter their major, graduates from the college are equipped with transferrable skills that benefit them wherever their professional and personal ambitions lead.

Founded in 1949, the college has a rich history of providing the core curriculum for every USD student, a tradition that continues today. Offering 28 majors, 35 minors and 4 graduate programs, the College of Arts and Sciences is where undergraduate students begin and graduate students refine their paths towards academic excellence and personal achievement.

"Our graduates are versatile and multitalented. No matter their major, graduates from the college are equipped with transferrable skills that benefit them wherever their ambitions lead."

Dean Noelle Norton

Our faculty-student relationships are bolstered by small class sizes, a commitment to research, and community service engagement. Students are active participants in their courses, and with our emphasis on study abroad opportunities and community service, students experience the world beyond USD.

On behalf of the College of Arts and Sciences, thank you for your interest in USD. We wish you well in your higher education pursuits. To gain additional insight into the college, campus life and specific disciplines, please explore the rest of our website or connect with us via social media.
