Ballet

This is an introductory course in the basics of the ballet style of dance. You will learn the positions of the body and elementary steps. As you progress, these elements are combined into a graceful and free flowing dance with expression and poise. This technique is essential for anyone wishing to study any other dance form.

*The Int/Adv class level is for the dancer with three or more years of experience and beginning pointe’ training. The barre’ work continues at a more rapid pace with greater diversity. Flic-flacs, tours and fouettes are added in the combinations. Adage stretches on the barre are included with stretches for pointe’. The floor work consists of an adage and several allegro sequences, both flat and on pointe’. Offered varied semesters only.

Ballroom Dance (Social)

Learn the classic dances for formal occasions in a fun environment. Students of all levels learn the basic social dances of yester year, such as the swing, waltz, tango, and fox trot. This is a great class for both men and women. No prior experience needed to participate.

Belly Dancing (Fitness)

Belly dance is a unique total body workout. Learn skilled body awareness through isolated movement and improve your body image and concentration through continuous coordinatedrhythmic motion. No previous dance experience needed.

Contemporary Dance

Hawaiian Dance

Hip Hop Dance (Fitness)

Learn to groove to the most popular hip hop music beats to precise choreography. Street and club will be taught in this class. Previous dance experience a plus but not needed.

*The Int/Adv is an extension to the beginner's class and will focus on more advanced chorography. Beginning Hip Hop or having a strong dance base is a prerequisite for this class.

Jazz

Jazz dance includes lyric styling ala Gene Kelly and the funk moves of the Jacksons. In this series of classes, you will learn the techniques to do both. Enjoy the rhythm of the music and the good-feeling workout you will have dancing to the up-beat style. In addition to lyric and modern styles, blues jazz dance styles will be shown. As the series progresses, fluidity of movement and expression within the given styles are primary goals. Combinations increase in length, eventually becoming complete dances.

*The Int/Adv class requires completion of Beginning Jazz, or at least one year of similar dance experience.

Salsa Dance

Salsa is a fast and fun Latin dance with rhythmic beats and Cuban hip movement and flair. You’ll be turning and moving in no time. No previous dance experience needed for the beginning level. Offered varied semesters only.

*The int/Adv class jumps into the hottest moves, footwork, spins, and partnering. Required completion of the Beginner's Salsa class or equivalent skills are a prerequisite for this class.

So You Think You Can Dance USD?

This class is for those who want to have fun and learn the dances to the popular TV show "So You Think You Can Dance". The TV show will be reviewed and dances/steps will be taught at a modified level. No prior dancing experience necessary. Offered varied semesters only.

Stretch for Strength and Relaxation

This class is for dancer and non-dancer alike. The purpose of the course is to teach the proper technique for exercising and increase the flexibility as well as strength of the individual, with emphasis on abdominal, gluteal, and thigh tightening. There is minimal aerobic activity.

Tap

For the beginner, the basics from shuffle and flop to the time step are taught and worked on. Offered varied semesters only.

*The Int/Adv class works on combinations and begins to perform their own steps and routines. Beginner's Tap or equivalent skills are a prerequisite for this class. Offered varied semesters only.

Zumba Cardio Dance

Dance away calories and have a blast with the fun and easy dance aerobics class! Groove to Latin beats as you sweat and tone (to official Zumba format). No dance experience needed.
