Jan Morris is a visiting professor at University of San Diego, joining the faculty in 2003. She primarily teaches accounting information systems, financial accounting, and personal finance courses. She is currently completing the requirements for a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies with an interdisciplinary emphasis in Accounting at University of San Diego. Her research interests relate to accounting ethics and leadership, including corporate culture and governance issues. Morris is a CPA, a member of the American Accounting Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the California Society of CPAs. Prior to moving to California, Morris was active in the Texas Society of CPAs (TSCPA) where she served on and chaired numerous committees and served on the Board of Trustees for the Educational Foundation of the TSCPA from 2001-2005. Morris has developed and taught several continuing professional education workshops on teaching effectiveness and technical financial accounting issues. She served as faculty advisor for the Zeta Upsilon Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi at University of Houston-Clear Lake from 1991 until 1998, when she was elected to the International Board of Directors to serve as regional director for a three year term. In 2002, Morris was reappointed to a second term to the Board of Beta Alpha Psi as the director of administration and development, completing that three year commitment in 2005. Currently, Morris serves as co-faculty advisor to USD’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter and Accounting Society and is the program chair for the 2007 International Annual Beta Alpha Psi meeting. Morris has been nominated for distinguished teaching awards by both students and fellow colleagues and has received numerous awards for her service to both the accounting and academic professions, including the Outstanding Volunteer Award from the Leadership Committee of the Texas Society of CPAs, the Beta Alpha Psi National Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award, and the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award from the Texas Society of CPAs.
