Banner Training Classes
There are many Banner Training classes that are offered, you will need to begin with Banner Navigation.
- BLISS 100: Intro to Luminis Group Studio: This session will describe the Group Studio features and applications. The Groups Studio applications gives students, faculty, employees and other Luminis system users at USD the ability to create and manage homepages. It provides homepages for clubs or other affiliations and interests. We will outline the features provided by these applications and describe their differences.
- BLISS 200: Banner Overview and Navigation: This session is designed to provide an overview of the modules and general content of the Banner system. The Navigation portion of the session will describe how to move around in Banner forms and provide some exercises to allow the student to become comfortable with navigation in Banner. It is strongly recommended that all new Banner INB users take this class.
- BLISS 210: Banner Searching and Updating: This session will cover how perform searches for people, schools and courses in Banner. In addition, institutional rules for performing basic address and informational updates to a person record will be reviewed. Exercises for both search functions and updating will be available.
- BLISS 220/230: Faculty/Advisor Banner/Luminus Training: With the implementation of the new Banner Student System starting with Fall ‘08, see how to subscribe to the Banner channels so that they appear on your ‘Teach/Advise’ tab in the Portal. For Faculty, these channels will to let you see your teaching assignments. Then see how to use the Banner Self-Service channel to check the enrollments in your classes, and other registration related data. Workshop activities will let you get hands-on experience with the new features. For Advisors, these channels will show you your assigned advisees. Other channels will enable you see student data, test scores, previous registrations, a current transcript, and other student data to assist you with your advising functions. Workshop activities will include how to release the student advising hold through Self-Service.
- BLISS 300: ODS/Cognos Trainings and Focus Groups: The BODS team will be holding weekly workshops in MH112. During these workshops, users will be taken step by step through creating reports using the ODS and Cognos. They will learn how to become familiar with the ODS data and also how to use every aspect of Cognos Query Studio.
