ICCBC Funding Applications - Due April 25, 2008 - 12 p.m.

Dear Campus Community,

As some of you may have learned the A.S. Vice President for Student Organizations resigned at the start of the semester.  Brian was an excellent Vice President, and a tireless advocate for the student organizations on campus.  To keep the business of A.S. flowing as seamlessly as possible, President Thelen appointed me to fill the position.  I am very excited about having the unique opportunity of serving the campus community in this very important position.

Like I told Matt when I was interviewing for the position, what made USD the most appealing school for me when I was applying almost three years ago was the positive attitude of the campus.  There is something special about USD – its students.  The campus community here is one of the most positive, uplifting that I have ever seen.

Student organizations and clubs are a great way to harness the outstanding charisma of the student body, and a wonderful way for students to get together to express common beliefs, goals and interests.  At USD we are blessed to have a diverse student body with varying interests and talents – and we are equally as gifted to have a student government that has the ability to fund and foster the development of organizations to allow for those interests and talents to be expressed, and I am honored to be a part of that relationship.

Coming in half-way through the school year I know that many clubs have already formed, and I look forward to working with those clubs and assisting them in any way I can; but I also look forward to helping students with new, fresh ideas that would like to form new clubs or organizations.
Whether your interest is in academics, politics, current events, social service or beyond I hope that you will take the time to explore starting on on-campus club – they really are a great way to meet new people and learn new things!

In addition, if ANYONE on campus has any ideas or suggestions about how we can improve relations between A.S. and student organizations, or just what A.S. can do more efficiently to serve your needs, please do not hesitate to visit me during my office hours in UC 161.
