CRITERIA FOR USD ALUMNI BOARD MEMBERSHIP

ATTENDANCE

  • Attend 4-5 regularly scheduled Board meetings to conduct the Board-level business of the Alumni Association.
  • Attend the Alumni Board Retreat (a half-day or full day retreat – usually on a Saturday and in late summer).
  • Attend major USD events: USD Alumni Honors (held in late Spring), Homecoming Weekend activities (mid-Fall), and Alumni Mass (December)
  • In support of the University, Board members are encouraged to attend other ancillary USD events when possible, e.g. local alumni events, commencement, local summer send-off, regional events, Student Alumni Association events, etc…
  • Staff (volunteer to work at) a minimum of 2 alumni events a year

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

  • Contribute financially to USD on an annual basis, at a level at which you are comfortable by September 30 , 2007.

ADVISORY and/or PLANNING PARTICIPATION

  • Participate actively on a minimum of 1 committee of the Alumni Board, attending all meetings and any associated events.

EXTERNAL RELATIONS & COMMUNICATION

  • Seek involvement and interest of the community in USD. As ambassadors of the University, it is important for Board Members to encourage other alumni to attend events, join committees and to educate the community as a whole about USD.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

  • Have a desire to grow into leadership positions within the alumni board. Recruit and nominate potential Board members and when needed, Class Reunion Chairs and Event Committee Chairs.

GRADUATE SCHOOL and SPECIAL CONSTITUENCY REPRESENTATIVES

  • Responsible for coordination and communication of graduate school and special constituency initiatives: Torero Athletic Board, Sacred Heart Alumni, College of Arts & Sciences, Schools of Business, Education (SOLES), Law and Nursing.
