Mike Zimmerman '03
Mike Zimmerman graduated from USD's School of Business Administration in 2003. Since then he has spent his time acting, being a contestant on reality TV shows and has started his own business.
1: What have you been up to since graduation?
I have accomplished a lot since I graduated USD. I was one of the founders of Xflagfootball, and now I am 50% owner. We started in 2007 with 31 teams and today we have over 215 teams in Southern California and Hawaii. I have also been on two reality TV shows, Pros vs Joes on spike TV, and Estate of Panic on the Sci-fi channel. I won both shows, and won a little over $32,000 on Estate of Panic. I have also done some acting and have been on shows such as Monk, General Hospital, a Side Order of Life to name a few.
2: What is your fondest memory of USD?
I loved my time at USD! I grew up in San Diego, and wanted to stay here for college. I loved being a member of the USD football team from 98 to 02. I loved the campus, and most all my classes. I would have to say my fondest memory would be getting my diploma, I was the first ZIMMERMAN to graduated college, and my whole family was there to see it, a great feeling!
3. What is your favorite place on campus, why?
As I said, I loved all of the campus, such a beautiful school! This might sound weird, but the place I miss the most would be the football locker room. For a football player putting on the pads and getting ready for a game is very special, and I really miss that feeling! I got to put on pads on Pros vs Joes, but that was the last time I got to experience getting ready for battle!
4. Who was your favorite USD professor or class?
My favorite class was Entrepreneurship. I really liked this class, and I think taking this class really did help me become a successful Entrepreneur!
5: How have you remained involved with USD since graduation?
I have been back to watch at least one football game every season since I have been gone. And now most importantly my company is playing games at USD. So I am bringing my business back to my Alma Mater, which I feel great about! I hope to play game year around at USD, and have USD become one of my company’s best locations in San Diego.
6: If you could offer a current USD student advice, what would it be?
My advice would be to stay focused and never ever quit even when things get really hard. I believe people can achieve great things through hard work, and being able to overcome adversity. Also to fallow your dreams, and don’t listen to people that say they are impossible!
