The Hughes Center was originally owned and occupied by the Diocese of San Diego. In the early nineties the Diocese moved to a new location and the University of San Diego received the building. The structure was remodeled and enlarged bringing it to its current 33,000 gross square feet. It now serves as the University's administration building.
