Julie H. Sullivan joined University of San Diego in July 2005 as the Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs. From July 2003, Professor Sullivan was a professor in the Rady School of Management with a joint appointment in the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at University of California, San Diego. Previously, Professor Sullivan was the Ernst and Young Distinguished Professor at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Professor Sullivan joined UNC Kenan-Flagler in 1987. During her 17-year tenure at Chapel Hill, Sullivan served as Interim Dean, Senior Associate Dean, Associate Dean of the Master of Accounting Program, Director of the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), and Director of the Center for Innovation in Learning.
Professor Sullivan is an internationally known scholar and educator in accounting and taxation. Her research and teaching focuses on issues related to accounting and financial reporting to shareholders and global tax planning. She served as Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) from 1998 to 2006.
Professor Sullivan has held numerous professional leadership positions, including Director of Research and on the Executive Committee of the American Accounting Association and as a member of the editorial boards of The Accounting Review and National Tax Journal. She is an active member of several public and non-profit boards of directors, including Schenectady International Inc., Applied Micro Circuits Corporation, United PanAm Financial Corporation, The Old Globe, and Project Concern International (PCI).
Professor Sullivan has undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in business and accounting from the University of Florida and is a non-practicing CPA in Florida.
