Theories that have more limited scope, less abstraction, address specific
pheonomena or concepts and reflect practice (administration, clinical,
or teaching) are considered mid-range theories. The phenomena or concepts
tend to cross different nursing fields and reflect a wide variety of
nursing care situations. Examples are uncertainly, incontinence, social
support, quality of life, and health as empowerment. (p. 18)
