Nancy Gaffrey, MSN, RN, CNS

Nancy, a University of San Diego alumna, is a Master’s prepared Clinical Nurse Specialist in Family Health. She received her undergraduate degree (BSEd) from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. Her rich & varied professional career has included both staff & administrative positions in Operating Room; Labor & Delivery; Staff Development & Long Term Care. The majority of her years in Nursing have been spent in the area of School Nursing, beginning as a School Nurse-Teacher on Long Island, N.Y. before moving the Director of School Health Services position in Merrillville, Indiana. After relocating to San Diego, she accepted a position as the Vision & Hearing Clinic Coordinator with the San Diego City Schools. For the five years prior to her retirement from that school district, she was their Medi-Cal Coordinator. In addition to her tri-state School Nurse Certification, she holds a Professional Meeting Planning Certification from the University of California, San Diego.

Membership includes the California School Nurse Organization & the National Association of School Nurses. Her active involvement continues in the Zeta Mu-at-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. She has served as Treasure & President & is currently on the Nominating & Bylaws Committees. In addition, she has been one of the seven nationwide chairs of two Biennials. Since 2000, she has been the Hahn School of Nursing & Health Sciences representative to the University of San Diego’s Alumni Board.

Nancy has been published & has presented at national conferences on topics that include issues dealing with: School Health; Managed Care; Quality Assurance & Health Care for the Homeless.

Civic involvement is centered within a variety of appointments & committees at her Catholic parish, Saint Gregory the Great. These include EM, Finance & Stewardship. Other religious affiliation is with Queen of Peace Council, Ladies of Columbus.

Nancy is married to Bob Brennan & has two children, three step-children, & six grandchildren.
