Joan Katherine Martin, MA

Joan Katherine Martin
Joan received her B.A.in Political Science from LeMoyne Jesuit College and her M.A.in Public Administration from the School of Public Affairs at the State University of New York, Albany. She has held major administrative and consulting positions in healthcare in the public, private, and non-profit sectors of San Diego. Prior to joining the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science, Joan was President of Martin & Associates, a consulting firm which specialized in business development for healthcare corporations and medical groups. In this capacity, Joan developed the business plans, financial requirements, and solicited business partners and financial support for new healthcare programs. Her career also includes Director, San Diego Association of Governments, Manager of Consulting for Deloitte, Haskins and Sells (now Deloitte-Touche), Director of Business Development & International Services for Sharp Healthcare, Vice-President, Business Development, Call Doctor, Inc., and Vice-President, Business Development for Heritage Health Systems.

Joan is a graduate of LEAD, San Diego. She previously served on the Board of Directors of the San Diego YWCA and also chaired the Financial Development Committee. In that capacity, Joan solicited major funding for the YWCA’s Shelter for Homeless Women. Currently, Joan is actively involved in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ocean Beach, where she serves as Cantor and Chair of the Development Committee.
