USD/Nursing School Launch Capital Campaign

A $200 million campaign for the University of San Diego is underway to significantly expand the academic, spiritual, athletic and community outreach programs. The Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science has established key campaign priorities for funding which are included in the USD campaign. The following is a listing of the school's funding goals. If you would like further information, please contact the Development Office at (619) 260-4730.

Nursing’s Capital Campaign Priorities: $14.5 million

Endowed Scholarships: $4.5 million:

  • Nearly $1 million raised to date toward the goal.
  • Endowed Scholarship support will enable the school to increase its long term financial assistance to deserving nursing students
  • Currently more than 80% of graduate students receive some financial aid. As our enrollment increases substantially, financial aid through endowed funds will be critical to ensure students can remain in school.

Endowed Chair for Nursing Research: $2.5 million:

  • The Nursing School, as one of the leading graduate schools in the nation, has a strong history of excellent research, despite limited facilities and resources.
  • Currently, faculty and students are conducting federal and private funding research projects on health care topics including: cancer, AIDS, nutrition, women’s health and mental health.
  • An endowed chair will enable the school to strengthen and expand research, both through its curriculum and its community outreach.
  • An endowed chair would allow the school to recruit a nationally recognized nurse researcher, who will provide guidance and mentoring to faculty and students, and offer leadership in the community concerning health-related research.
  • A key goal of the endowed chair position would be to increase the level of research funds granted to the university and nursing school.

Institute For Clinical Nursing Research Annex: $8 million:

  • A key of the nursing school is to fund a much needed 18,000 square-foot extension to the current building to support faculty and student health service research.
  • Despite limited resources and space to conduct vital research, the nursing school has historically attracted significant federal funds. However, the school is currently not eligible for many funding opportunities due to a lack of research facilities.
  • The proposed annex will contain three research team pods for Ph.D. candidates, post doctoral students and nurse scientists. The annex would also contain focus group rooms and labs for research, lecture halls, conference rooms and offices along with the necessary space and equipment needed to meet the requirements of national grant donors.
