Setting Up Outlook Express
Outlook Express is a program on your computer through which you can access your email accounts. Some people prefer this email system setup rather than entering USD Webmail. Outlook Express appears as an icon in the bottom right of your Windows screen and alerts you to new incoming messages. Here is an explanation of how to set up Outlook Express so that it connects to your USD account.
- Enter Outlook Express through the programs menu.
- Go to File and scroll to Identities. Select "Add a new identity."
- Enter a name for your identity into the blank.
- You will be asked if you would like to switch to your new identity. Select Yes.
- A box titled "Internet Connection Wizard" will pop up. Enter the name you would like to appear in the "from" field of the outgoing message.
- In the next box, enter the email address to which other people will direct their emails to you.
- The next box entitled "Email Server names" will ask you to choose your incoming server. Select IMAP from the scroll menu. In the box below this entitled "incoming mail server," type in "imap.sandiego.edu". For the "outgoing mail server," type in "smtp.sandiego.edu".
- The next box requires you to enter your USD account username and password. Click Next, and then Finish.
- Your account will now be accessible through Outlook Express.
