Staff, students and community members are invited to join this semester’s Humanities Center Great Read Series. The series will focus on and explore one literary work each semester. This summer we are reading Sula by Toni Morrison.

Participants will meet four times throughout the series for an in depth discussion that invites readers to examine the book through various lenses. Discussions led by Lisa B. Smith, adjunct assistant professor in the Department of English.

We will explore the book’s history and context, engage in open discussion about contemporary readings, and consider book adaptations and references in pop culture. You are encouraged to participate in your own way, and to attend as many of the four sessions as possible. Whether you are rereading an old favorite or discovering a new read, this series promises lively conversation with an engaged community of readers.

The first 20 to register will receive a free copy of the book.
