Celebrating the Graduating Class of 2026: Tresurea “Golden” Nelson-Holmes
Tresurea “Golden” Nelson-Holmes is graduating from the College of Arts and Sciences with a degree in music with an emphasis in vocal performance.
After 10 years in the U.S. Navy and the Honor Guard, she decided to pursue her passion in music which also led her to singing the National Anthem in various arenas.
“USD’s music department is amazing. The first classes I was singing. The first thing I was telling my mother was ‘All my classes I sing. This is amazing’ and she thought that was so cool,” said Nelson-Holmes.
Nelson-Holmes is currently leading a non-profit called “Little Ladies Creative Empowerment Institute” where she helps young girls understand empathy, emotional support and leadership while also helping them perform on big stages like the MBA and National Anthem.
She says she has had a great experience at USD especially with supportive professors.
“Everyone is so helpful and has a positive attitude and this is the place where you can discover yourself and really bloom.”
