This is your USD News Minute.

On Saturday, USD will host the global finals of the 2026 Fowler Global Social Innovation Challenge. The event brings together student entrepreneurs from 15 countries to pitch business models designed to address the world’s most pressing challenges. Two teams from USD are competing in the event. That’s this Saturday starting at 3 p.m. in the KIPJ Theatre and is free to attend.

Join USD's Mortar Board for their upcoming event, "The Last Lecture" on April 27 at 6 p.m. in the Humanities Center featuring guest speaker, Dr. Satyan Deva-doss. Professor Devadoss will speak to the group as if he is giving his last lecture to the community focused on the topic: "Mathematics, Machines, and the Art of Being Human." 

Come cheer on USD students, the Athletics department's staff and coaches and the Recreation Wellness team at USD's first-ever Wellness Olympics on May 2nd from 11 -3 at the Wellness Center.  Students, staff and coaches will be competing in 10 different events from pickleball to ping pong in a fast-paced tournament. The event's goal is to build community amongst student athletes, coaches, Athletics staff and the recreation wellness departments on campus. 

Last week, student teams in the Changemaker HUB’s Design Lab showcased their projects, which identify solutions to issues related to student connection. Ideas ranged from creating mentors for specific majors to connecting international students with American students through food and building relationships between students across campus.
