The Online LLM in U.S. Law program is designed so that students who successfully complete the program are eligible to sit for the California bar exam and other states that accept online LLM programs. The courses are taught remotely and synchronously, so the program can be completed from the comfort of your home or office. The curriculum is set for all students and covers all of the multistate topics on the bar exam as well as Introduction to U.S. Law, Legal Writing & Research, and Professional Responsibility. Candidacy is limited to those who obtained their first law degree from an institution outside the United States.

Personal Statement
A brief personal statement (1-3 pages) which addresses: the nature and extent of your legal background, other related professional experience, why you will be a successful candidate for this degree, how you plan to make use of your graduate degree, and any additional information you deem important.

Letter of Recommendation
You must submit at least 1 letter of recommendation. Your recommender should email his or her letter to llminfo@sandiego.edu.
Official Law School Transcript
Your official transcript must be submitted by your law school directly to us. This can be a secure e-transcript or a paper transcript in a sealed school envelope from your school registrar.
TOEFL or IELTS Score
Applicants are required to establish English competency through successful completion of an English language test (TOEFL iBT or Academic IELTS) in the event that: 1) the applicant's native language is not English, or 2) the applicant graduated from an international law school. The minimum suggested TOEFL score is 93 (583 paper-based), and the minimum suggested Academic IELTS score is 7.0. A TOEFL waiver is available for applicants with native or high-level English proficiency.
