VIRTUAL TO HYBRID

Our team seamlessly pivoted in the transition back to campus this year, meeting the change with innovation. Our 2021-2022 hybrid programs continued to meet the current needs of students, incorporating more options for students to select from.

Torero Treks

Hybrid Torero Treks widened the variety of industries reached, focusing on access to companies that have traditionally not collaborated with our campus. Virtual treks highlighted recognizable companies, like Wall Street Journal and GoFundMe, to offer unique online experiences and connections. Our in-person offerings were hyperfocused to industries in San Diego, which allowed us to experience local nonprofits, like Olivewood Gardens and Junior Achievement, to provide specialized hands-on visits as we grew awareness about potential careers in our hometown.

Additional benefits to our dual offerings allowed students to visualize hybrid work as industry trends showcased more permanent pivots to virtual work in many popular industries. Behind the scene access to some of these industries, like the media industry, were our highest attended treks of the year. In addition, student attendance highlighted the widest range of majors and first time participants we have seen.

SUMMER INTERNSHIP AWARD

Connecting Students with Experience

The Summer Internship Award continued to financially support undergraduate students participating in meaningful summer internships, undergraduate research, or career-related community service. Some of the 65 students, who were awarded $166,504 for the 2021 summer, share their highlights below.

LARGE-SCALE CAREER FAIRS

Our virtual format made the career fair more accessible, expanding our company reach, while being sensitive to polices about recruiter travel. In addition, this format made it easier for off-campus and non-traditional students to access the fair from wherever they were. Through Career Fairs, Toreros were able to connect with over 200 actively hiring organizations, while providing greater accessibility and facilitated connections with employers across the US.
