Dear USD Campus Community:

Due to the ongoing pandemic, our efforts to decrease campus density and our decision to begin the Fall 2020 semester with remote instruction, USD faculty, staff and students will not be charged to park on campus during the Fall semester, although parking permits are still required.

This is effective from July 1 to December 31, 2020. While you will not be charged for campus parking, you must still apply for a parking permit and register your vehicle with Parking Services before visiting campus. This process will provide you with the areas and spaces in which you will be allowed to park during the Fall semester.

If you have already paid for a permit for Fall 2020 or the current academic year, Parking Services will issue you a refund check within the next two weeks. If you planned to pay via payroll deduction, the deduction will be cancelled. You do not need to take any action to request a refund.

Information regarding Spring 2021 parking permits will be shared at a later time. If payment will be required for Spring, the Spring rates are likely to be discounted by 50 percent of the annual rate.

All parking rules and regulations will remain in place throughout the Fall semester. If cars parked on campus are not registered or if cars are parked in non-permitted lots or locations, Parking Services will issue citations. Please contact Parking Services at parking@sandiego.edu or 619-260-4518 for more information.

As a reminder, the following parking changes will be implemented for Fall 2020:

  • First-year resident parking on campus is not allowed without an approved appeal;
  • Faculty and staff with Olin parking lot reserved permits have been moved to the KIPJ. The Olin lot is closed for preconstruction;
  • Physical parking permits have been replaced with virtual permits;
  • Paper parking citations have been replaced with e-citations;
  • License plate recognition data will be uploaded to the parking website to show available campus parking;
  • The new category of “Invited Guest Parking” will be implemented in KIPJ South and Immaculata West lots.

Thank you for your cooperation with our parking protocols, and don’t forget to apply for your no-fee parking permit and register your vehicle!

New Torero Identification Cards

The Campus Card office is issuing new Torero ID Cards to the USD community. USD has begun the expansion of Salto, a new electronic door access system. This system requires the use of a chip-based card. All regular card functions will work the same as the previous card with the added chip functionality for select door access. Most ID cards will be distributed this summer by U.S. mail. Please visit the Campus Card website for additional important details.

Sincerely,

The COVID-19 Action Team
