The academics committee is dedicated to supporting students of all backgrounds so they can have an equitable liberal arts education, whether it is through Academic Grants, Scholarships, Textbook Reserves, or updating policies to be more inclusive. The Academic Committee is made up of ASG Senators who are undergraduate students at USD. They are passionate about amplifying the voices of their constituents and encourage academic excellence. Academic excellence can be exemplified through reviewing academic policies, formulating policies to help enhance students' learning motivation, creating resources that are accessible for students and supporting a diverse learning community. The Academic Committee is committed to embodying a liberal arts education that not only addresses but dismantles hegemonic oppressive infrastructures such as systemic racism.
Associated Student Government embraces all forms of diversity in our campus community, and in doing so respects the unique characteristics of our community members and their contributions to our campus. The Associated Student Government, the Senate, and the IDEA committee are committed to working with the diverse members of the campus community to resolve issues, allow the voice of all students to be heard, and use critical thinking and specific data to help drive decisions and actions that foster a community that is both welcoming, educated, and inclusive.
In light of this commitment, and our responsibility that comes with it, we encourage all members of the student body to proactively address acts of intolerance that occur in their presence. An act of intolerance is conduct that adversely and unfairly targets an individual or group on the basis of one or more of the following actual or perceived characteristics: (1) gender or gender identity; (2) race or ethnicity; (3) disability; (4) religion; (5) sexual orientation; (6) nationality; (7) socio-economic status or (8) age. It is only through recognizing and reporting these acts that we work together toward a campus climate that is both reflective of our university’s values and appreciative of all of our community members.

ASG's Student Org Committee strives to provide student organizations on campus the resources and support necessary to uphold their constitution. The committee is composed of seven senators who review new student organization proposals and present them to Senate for final approval.
The committee also addresses issues and concerns surrounding student organizations and attempts to provide solutions to leaders in order to correct concerns. They also work in collaboration with the Student Activities and Involvement staff to make recommendations on processes and policies.
ASG's Student Life Committee works to find solutions to problems that are impacting undergraduate student life. We serve as a liaison between ASG and Dining Services, Residential Life, Parking Services, Campus Recreation and Athletics, Public Safety, Student Health Center, and other Student Affairs offices. Our main priority is meeting student needs and improving student life on campus by working with our fellow committees within ASG Senate to fully support the student community.
ASG’s Sustainability Coordinator looks to the student body about how they want to approach sustainability. For students, practicing sustainability can be a challenge initially, so ASG strives to make these green habits easy to follow and maintain. The sustainability coordinator also works to promote environmentally friendly resources on campus, making a sustainable lifestyle accessible for all students.
Waste is a recurring theme among the issues that students want to address, so one of the major projects we’re working on is bringing on-campus composting to the University of San Diego. Other goals include increasing the use of the Ozzi take-out boxes and addressing single-use plastic waste.
ASG wants to hear your thoughts, so please feel free to reach out to asgstudentlife@sandiego.edu at any time.
