Application Requirements
You are a transfer applicant if you: have already completed high school, OR have received a General Education Diploma (GED), OR have successfully completed a State High School Proficiency Examination AND have enrolled in college classes.
- Completed Common Application
- Official college transcript(s) from all the institutions you have attended. See Transferring College Credits
- If you have college work from a university abroad, your application will be considered incomplete if your college transcripts are not evaluated by a member of NACES, such as Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE), International Education Research Foundation (IERF), The Evaluation Company (TEC), or World Education Services (WES).
- Academic Letter of Recommendation
- At least one academic letter of recommendation from your college advisor or college instructor.
- Transfer College Report (PDF)
- Please submit the Transfer College Report (TCR), which includes questions specific to the University of San Diego. The USD TCR should be completed by an official in the Office of the Dean of Students or similar department at your current or most recent college/university. Please be advised that if you have attended more than one college, we may request a TCR for additional institutions you have attended.
- Transfer Midterm Report (PDF)

- Application Fee of $70
- Fee waivers are available in cases of financial hardship

- If you have college work from a university outside the US, you are required to submit an official course-by-course evaluation of your international transcript as part of your application. You can request a course-by-course evaluation from one of the following evaluation services: Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE), International Education Research Foundation (IERF), The Evaluation Company (TEC), or World Education Services (WES). We can also accept a course-by-course evaluation from any current member of NACES. Applications submitted without this evaluation will be considered incomplete.
- Official TOEFL iBT score of 80, IELTS score of 6.5 or Duolingo score of 115

- We encourage applicants to submit all of the required Common Application documents in order to conduct a full and timely admission review. However, we realize that there may be challenges to submitting the Transfer College Report. We will do our best to review your application without this document. In the instances where the Transfer College Report is necessary in order to make an admission decision, our office will reach out to you.

- If you have attended an English Language Program, you must submit one letter of recommendation from the program instructor along with your transcript/grade progress report from the program. If you have had a gap in education, please provide a statement explaining what you have been doing since you were last enrolled in school.
