Beckman Scholars

In early 2017, the USD Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) was one of just 11 schools that received a three-year Arnold & Mabel Beckman Foundation Scholars Program Award. This educational award supports student-driven research for two summers and the intervening academic year.

If selected, Beckman Scholars must commit to conducting 10 weeks of research for 40 hours/week for two summers and 10-12 hours/week during the intervening year. The Beckman Scholars Program Award consists of a stipend that may cover travel, professional development and research supplies. Recipients are required to attend the Beckman Scholars Annual Research Symposium in Irvine, CA, during their first summer and present their research during second summer. See Program Guidelines for details on the 2018 Beckman Symposium.
