Let's Talk

Conflict Resolution

Conflict is inevitable, but it is also an invitation to grow—both as individuals and as a community. At USD, we see conflict not as a barrier, but as a gateway to deeper understanding, resilience, and ethical leadership. By embracing challenges, we develop essential life skills that prepare us for life's complexities and foster a stronger, more connected community. Our commitment is to approach conflict with integrity and courage, using each encounter as an opportunity for positive change. True leadership is about facing difficulties head-on, striving not only for personal growth but for the greater good of all.

Conflict Coaching and Resolution Services

What We Offer

Residential Life is committed to empowering residents to take proactive steps toward resolution. While we may not solve problems on your behalf, we are here to support you throughout the process. Below are services designed to assist you on your path to resolving conflicts.

Students at USD can book conflict coaching sessions regardless of their housing status. Mediation services, and roommate success plans are exclusive to residential students.

What to Expect

While our conflict coaching and resolution services are here to guide and support you, it’s important to set clear expectations: we don’t provide direct solutions or make decisions for you. Instead, our role is to help you build skills, explore perspectives, and empower you to address conflicts effectively and independently.

Guidance, Not Direct Solutions

We provide tools and perspectives to help you reach your own resolutions.

Support in Decision-Making

While we don’t make decisions for you, we’re here to help you explore options and make informed choices.

Skill-Building Over Intervention

Our services are focused on skill-building and guidance on how to handle conflicts independently, rather than directly intervening.

A Focus on Process, Not Guarantees

We guide you through effective strategies, with outcomes shaped by your own efforts and circumstances.
