The UFMC interns play a critical role in developing and maintaining our programs and services. Interns learn job-related skills and the importance of working in a team environment.
Although interns are hired with a specific job function, much of the work they do expands beyond the job description. Interns are expected to collaborate and assist with other projects when needed. Interns receive role specific training, as well as training focusing on identity and leadership development.
Intern Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate an understanding of one's own identity, culture, and heritage and seek to learn more about others.
- Identify biases and prejudices that impact our community.
- Identify characteristics of leadership and define their own leadership philosophy and style.
- Explore and engage in inquiry into the problems, challenges, and possibilities in a multicultural society including systems that maintain power and privilege.
- Apply the skills developed and realize the opportunities to serve organizations within their community.

Leadership Council Student Coordinator
The Leadership Council Student Coordinator works under the guidance of the Associate Director to help develop and implement leadership development programs and opportunities for students under the student organizations affiliated with the UFMC. The coordinator is responsible for building community among student organizations by creating a space for thoughtful dialogue and open communication.
Link Student Coordinators (2)
The Link Student Coordinators work closely with the Director to coordinate the program’s recruitment, selection, matching, events, meetings, and trainings. The coordinators must have great organization skills and help create and maintain connections between mentors and mentees during the entire length of the program.
Outreach Student Coordinator
The Outreach Student Coordinator assists with informational outreach efforts to connect students and visitors with the UFMC’s programs, services, and resources. The coordinator works closely with other university departments and organizations to assist in the recruitment of underrepresented and underserved students to USD.
The Programmers work closely with the Graduate Assistants to develop and implement innovative programming that supports and strengthens the mission and values of the UFMC. They assist UFMC professional staff in planning and promoting large-scale events such as Multicultural Night and Diversity Banquet.
The Webmaster/Graphic Designer works closely with the Director to update and provide support for the UFMC website. This person works with student interns and professional staff to assist with the development of flyers and other graphic requests.
Communications & Social Media Coordinator
The Communications & Social Media Coordinator works with the Executive Assistant to effectively gather and disseminate information related to the United Front, student organizations, and partnered centers in the weekly UFMC newsletter. This person will update all social media accounts (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), create videos, as well as take pictures at important events related to the center’s work.
