Stories from an Undeclared War presents an extraordinary behind-the-scenes look at the events that led to the creation of the Freedom Writers in the aftermath of the LA riots some 25 years ago. Featuring Erin Gruwell and the students of Room 203, the film reveals the struggles inside and outside the classroom. Ms. G helped students confront racism, poverty and gang violence, as they came to trust one another and embrace education as a vehicle for personal and social transformation. Exploring the deadly roots of racism from the streets of greater Los Angeles to the Holocaust, this powerful film reveals, like never before, how the Freedom Writers came to be, and their extraordinary message of transformation, change and hope for humanity today. Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A and book signing.
