Donate Old Mascara Wands to Help Save Wildlife

Wands for Wildlife Ad

In honor of 2019's Earth Day theme, "Protect our Species", and in alignment with our zero-waste initiative on campus, the USD Office of Sustainability is sponsoring a "Wands for Wildlife" campaign, supporting the Appalachian Wildlife Refuge.  This rehabilitation nonprofit uses old mascara wands to remove fly eggs and larva from the fur of injured and orphaned wild animals.

Now through May 10, the Office of Sustainability will be collecting used mascara wands in collection bins placed throughout campus.  Look for collection bins at the following locations (or contact us if you would like to request an additional collection location):

  • Copley Library
  • Founders Hall, RA Office
  • Legal Research Center, Circulation Counter
  • Maher Hall, Table outside of 306E
  • Manchester Village, Front Desk
  • Mission Crossroads, Front Desk
  • Mother Rosalie Hill Hall, Student Lounge
  • Office of Sustainability
  • SLIC, AS Office Space
  • Vista Apartments, Palomar Front Desk
