Dean Jane M. Georges accepts appointment to Board of Directors for the Howell Foundation

Dean Jane M. Georges was recently appointed to serve on the Board of Directors for the Doris Howell Foundation for Women’s Health Research.

Dean Georges said she is honored to have been nominated to the Board of Directors.

"The Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science at USD has had a long-term relationship with the Howell Foundation in providing support for our developing nurse scientists who focus on women's health needs. The Howell Foundation is the premier organization advancing women's health research in San Diego, and I am delighted to be able to serve on the Board. Nursing science is in a key position to advance women's health in so many ways, and it's a privilege to participate in continuing the work of Dr. Doris Howell who contributed so much to the health of women in our community," she said.

The Foundation was established 25 years ago in honor of Dr. Doris A. Howell, a world-renowned physician in pediatric hematology/oncology and hospice care.  Its focus is on health care research with an emphasis on the health and wellbeing of women in our community.

The Howell Foundation has been a generous supporter of USD SON students through the Cheryl Wilson Graduate Research Award in Nursing. Some of our awardees include 2017 PhD graduate Trista Campbell, who recently managed Nursing Performance Improvement in the Department of Nursing Research at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, and 2020 PhD graduate Loralie Woods.

The faculty and staff of the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science congratulate Dean Georges for her appointment.
