EOSC Graduate Student awarded Davidson Fellowship

USD EOSC Graduate Student Nancy Torres was awarded the Davidson Fellowship, below are her thoughts on how this fellowship will help her research and development as a researcher:

My project involves sampling for contaminants in the Tijuana River Estuary’s water, sediment, and target biota. This will be coupled with synthesis and analyses of historical data to provide insight into how the ecosystem’s health has responded to changing inputs and management, such as treatment plant construction. Funding from the Davidson fellowship means I can run a higher number of samples through laboratory analysis for my own current assessment of conditions within the estuary. Being part of the fellowship also means that I’ll be in the first cohort of NOAA’s new program for graduate students studying the national estuarine research reserves aka I get to meet/train with other fellows doing cool coastal science projects!
