Double Major Darlene Ngo, Accepted to PhD Clinical Psychology Program

My name is Darlene Ngo and I will be graduating from USD this spring with a double major in psychology and sociology (Law, Crime and Justice) and Honors. I first became interested in psychology and the criminal justice system during my freshman year, when I took Dr. Goldschmied's Psychology and Law class. From there, he led me to numerous research and internship opportunities, and I sought out unique experiences that united my two interests, from interning at the California Innocence Project, to shadowing psychologists at the Forensic Psychiatry Clinic of the San Diego Superior Court, and to becoming a research assistant at San Diego State's Child and Adolescent Anxiety and Mood Program.

I am excited to share that this fall I will begin pursuing my PhD in Clinical Psychology with a Forensic emphasis at the University of North Texas, an APA-accredited institution! I will be mentored by Dr. Craig Neumann, and my research will be focusing on psychopathy and forensic assessment. I am beyond thrilled to continue integrating my two majors into my future studies with Dr. Neumann, and am incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported me throughout the way. I would love to talk to anyone who has questions about navigating the road towards graduate school. You are not alone in this journey!
