The Nonprofit Institute completed an initial survey of COVID-19's early impacts on the San Diego nonprofit sector in March 2020. The findings were compiled into, "Nonprofit Sector Response to COVID-19."
The Nonprofit Institute has partnered with the San Diego and Imperial Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to provide pro bono nonprofit-specific technical assistance in completing applications for federal disaster relief funding. Through this endeavor, we aim to shorten wait times to get you the information you need to be able to apply. Additionally, The Nonprofit Institute remains abreast of the most recent and rapidly-changing recommendations from the SBA and SBDC regarding loan applications.

“Hosted and administered by The San Diego Foundation in collaboration with County Board of Supervisor Nathan Fletcher, the co-chair of the County’s COVID-19 subcommittee, and seeded with $1 million from San Diego Gas & Electric and $300,000 from The San Diego Foundation, the San Diego COVID-19 Community Response Fund will receive donations and make emergency grants to nonprofit organizations that have deep roots and strong experience supporting impacted communities, particularly those that are disproportionately affected by this global pandemic and its economic consequences.”
The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced a several billion-dollar program to help small businesses deal with the crisis. There is NO application fee and you can decide, once approved, whether to finalize the 30 year; fixed-rate (3.75%) loan.
Tax Day Extension- On Tuesday the Secretary of the Treasury announced a 90-day extension for any federal taxes due - from April 15 to July 15. Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act -

FORTIFY - The Fieldstone Leadership Network San Diego and The Nonprofit Institute at the University of San Diego have joined together to create FORTIFY, a collection of offerings to strengthen the leadership, well-being and sustainability of nonprofit leaders and organizations.
