Development

Everything in education is designed--from our learning spaces to digital apps, learning content, experiences, pedagogy, assessment and more. Based on our pioneering research and research of other leading experts in the learning sciences, we develop educational solutions in partnership with other innovators in schools, businesses, and other educational non-profits.

Four teenagers

Pactful

Pactful™ is a social good innovation app for teenagers and their teachers who want to build a better world. Aligned to the UN Global Goals, Pactful™ supports students to work in teams to design local and global solutions to social issues using a design thinking process. Our goal is to recapture millions of “lost Einsteins” around the country by providing them access to innovation culture and training. After beta testing, our next step is to launch the app in a region-wide changemaker competition in Fall 2020 with thousands of teens creating solutions to local and industry problems.

Innovation Zones and Classrooms

The thoughtful design of learning environments can encourage the development of innovator competencies. We are in the process of converting a series of classrooms in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES) to innovation zones supporting teaching, research and design in educational innovation, design thinking and STEAM with the first to open in summer 2019.

E2E Incubator - Future Happens Here

The E2E Incubator (Education to Employment) is a space where every student can discover their place in the world. Open to K-12 schools throughout San Diego, the incubator prioritizes access to elementary, middle, and high school students and teachers in Linda Vista and the Kearny Cluster.

As a part of USD's Envision 2024 Strategic Investment Fund, the Jacobs Institute will be funding two rounds of microgrants for collaborative projects between USD students/faculty and SDUSD students/teachers that utilize the innovative E2E Incubator space.
