How long will the program take me?

Typically students complete this certificate in 1 year or less. When pursued with the M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, the total time to completion of both the M.Ed. and certificate will be around 2 years. The time to completion depends on the students' pace.

How many units are included?

The certificate consists of 13 units. When pursued with the M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, the program of study is a minimum of 37 units total.

When are classes scheduled?

SOLES classes typically meet once per week at 4:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. for 2 hours and 50 minutes at a time. Classes in the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies (designated by the code PJS) may take place during daytime hours.

Can I work while completing this program?

It is possible to work full-time while completing this program since much of the coursework take place in the late afternoon and evening. However, some required courses may be offered on a daytime schedule which may require a flexible work schedule.

Is this program offered online?

No, this program is offered on campus at the University of San Diego only. There is no online, hybrid, or distance learning option available.
