Undergraduate Nonprofit Leadership and Management Certificate
Department of Leadership Studies
The national nonprofit certification comes from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA, formerly American Humanics). The NLA offers the only national nonprofit management leadership credential developed with and recognized by the nonprofit sector. Our students complete rigorous, comprehensive academic and experiential requirements meeting industry standards and preparing them for nonprofit sector careers. With the National Certification in Nonprofit Management and Leadership, and the corresponding Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) designation, students are fully prepared to succeed in any career in the nonprofit sector.
The mission and vision of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance is to prepare and certify future nonprofit professionals. Nonprofit organizations hire over 3,000 new professionals each year. They offer competitive salaries and aggressively seek certificated graduates.
- More than 5,000 new professionals are needed annually by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA) partners to fill entry-level vacancies.
- Over 2,500 college students have been certified by the NLA.
- Over 200 USD students have been certified by the NLA.
- Hundreds of human service agencies employ NLA certified graduates.
A 2014 study by LinkedIn found the CNP credential key to nonprofit career advancement, finding that CNPs are seven times more likely to reach a director-level or higher position at a nonprofit organization than a non-CNP.
