Undergraduate Minor In Leadership Studies

Department of Leadership Studies

Program of Study

The Minor in Leadership Studies offers undergraduate students in any major at the University of San Diego the opportunity to learn about and develop leadership in their personal and professional lives. Studies include an understanding of how organizations function, and how change can be affected within organizations and in society in general. The nature and purpose of leadership in transforming people, organizations, and society are also part of the curriculum. Students in the minor learn how leaders use group dynamics and politics to achieve their purposes, and study the ethical dimensions of leadership. Students articulate their own philosophy of leadership that will guide them in their future careers and throughout life.

This minor is recommended for sophomores and juniors. Interested freshmen should enroll in Emerging Leaders to begin the program. Practical experience is included providing students the opportunity to develop their leadership abilities.

Students may take this program separately or in conjunction with the Nonprofit Leadership and Management Certificate Program.
