Dr. Nedeljko Golubovic, a native of Pljevlja, Montenegro, is an assistant professor in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.  Dr. Golubovic received his doctorate in Counselor Education and Practice from Georgia State University.  Dr. Golubovic holds a M.S. in Marriage and Family Counseling and a B.A. in Psychology from Fresno State.  Dr. Golubovic also was an intercollegiate athlete and played Division I basketball as a Fresno State Bulldog.

The primary goal of Dr. Golubovic’s research is further exploration of substance use/addiction issues and trauma.  More specifically, Dr. Golubovic is interested in assessing the intersection between addiction and trauma and examining the consequences of stigmatization and bias related to both areas. Most recently, Dr. Golubovic has begun investigating the effects of substance use and race on attribution of blame and responsibility in cases of rape.  Dr. Golubovic aims to gain insight into how attitudes about race and substance use, and potential stigmatization towards persons who use drugs, may bias individuals’ views of the crime and the survivor.  Additionally, Dr. Golubovic is exploring how social attitudes about substance use, particularly biases regarding use of substance by racial/ethnic minorities, may interact with aversive racism.  Dr. Golubovic strives to uncover whether substance use will be seen as a further disqualifying factor and exacerbate racial discrimination.  Finally, Dr. Golubovic is interested in investigating experiences of student athletes who suffered severe injuries.  Particularly, Dr. Golubovic aims to explore mental health needs of student athletes during the injury and recovery period as well as assess the effectiveness of support structures.
