San Diego Angel Conference

Bringing Entrepreneurs and Investors Together

What is the San Diego Angel Conference?

Angels say, there are not enough good deals.

Entrepreneurs say, there aren’t enough investors writing checks.

The San Diego Angel Conference (SDAC) aims to improve both of these issues through a series of events that build up to a one-day conference. SDAC is open to any member of the community interested in learning more about starting a company and investing in a new business.

SDAC is the culmination of many months of due diligence, review, evaluation, and selection by the investors participating in the Conference. The entrepreneurial candidates are narrowed down and on the day of the Conference, the conference finalists have the opportunity to make their best pitch for why their company deserves the investment.

This event is open to the public. Investors make the final decision on which company will receive the funds, but there is a People’s Choice Award for all participating attendees.

Investors

Seasoned community-minded investors, paired with novice first-time investors create an LLC, and pool their funds to create an investment of up to $200,000, to be awarded at SDAC. More information for investors.

Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs receive intense coaching and feedback to ensure deal flow improves, as they prepare to compete at SDAC. More information for entrepreneurs.

Introducing Silvia Mah, 2018-2019 Fund Manager

My goal is to create a solution for aspiring angel investors to “try on” their wings by making a realinvestment in a vetted company at a low enough threshold of risk and total dollar amount; ultimately spurring the activation of new capital. Thus, growing a stronger and more wide network of angels in San Diego to fund innovation and grow our local economy.

My activities will be focused around:
  1. Recruiting diverse angel investors to participate in the conference and receive the education we are providing
  2. Mentor and equip the startup founders applying for the conference to become investor ready
  3. Attend and teach events/workshops that provide education and connections on both sides of the venture table
  4. Support the conference leadership, partners, and sponsors to bring real value to BOTH investors and entrepreneurs.
