Welcome to the Office of the Vice President and Provost. The vice president and provost is the university's chief academic officer of the university, providing academic leadership to its college and schools and promoting excellence in all of the university's academic programs and initiatives, in order to educate ethical and compassionate leaders.

The University of San Diego, with its college and six schools, distinctive academic centers and institutes, proximity to Asia and Latin America, and commitment to Catholic traditions, offers our students a unique educational experience. A USD education is characterized by academic rigor in its undergraduate and graduate programs offering transformative opportunities through student/faculty research, global experiences, community service learning, and internships that develops the knowledge, values and skills needed to serve the global, civic, and faith communities.

USD faculty’s research, scholarship and creative activity are complements to their teaching and are nurtured by a culture of intellectual inquiry. Faculty and students (undergraduate and graduate) often collaborate on research and other creative activity. The outstanding characteristics of our teaching and research are a unique breadth and depth of interdisciplinary collaboration; rich and multi-faceted global experiences; a social justice focus on sustainability – environmental, economic and social sustainability; and an objective to create ethical and compassionate leaders who will transform society and culture through leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

I encourage you to learn more about our academic programs, our distinguished faculty who are engaged in their fields and with their students, and our supportive university community.
