Ruth Buffalo

Ruth Buffalo (United States) is a political healer, community organizer, public health professional and educator, citizen of the Mandan Hidatsa Arikara Nation, and descendant of the Chiricahua Apache. She was elected into office in 2018 to serve North Dakota as a Representative for District 27 in south Fargo. She is the former chair of the North Dakota Human Rights Coalition, and introduced legislation to protect our most vulnerable and curb human trafficking. She is an advocate for community-led initiatives through research and advocacy, capacity-building and continued reconciliation efforts through education. Ruth hopes her efforts will contribute to policy changes in all levels of government for future generations.
