alejandrx cervantes-frederick is the Business and Operations Manager and leads the day-to-day operations of the Institute for Peace and Justice (IPJ) at the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies. They work in close partnership and collaboration with the Executive Director and IPJ core team to implement strategic priorities. alejandrx provides cross-functional leadership for finance, business operations, grants management, program management, and events. This includes budget oversight for endowments, gifts, and grants, contract development, supervising graduate student practice fellows, and streamlining organizational processes for impact.
Originally from San Diego, alejandrx joined the University of San Diego as an undergraduate student where they earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology from the College of Arts & Sciences. Shortly after graduation, they served as the executive assistant to the assistant vice president for Student Wellness for 11.5 years supporting the health and well-being of the USD student community. During this time, alejandrx went on to pursue graduate school and earned a master’s degree in Leadership Studies from the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES).
