USD Campus Ambassador – Purpose and Role

To apply for this position, please contact us at

The purpose of Campus Ambassador is to promote a healthy and safe Torero community in a friendly manner by reinforcing the university requirements. The Campus Ambassador will provide information on campus health and safety guidelines using a positive, friendly, and customer-focused approach. The Campus Ambassador does not assume an enforcement role.

When someone enters the campus and is not sure what USD guidelines are, the Campus Ambassador is here to help by:

  1. Informing them face coverings are required at all time.
  2. Letting them know that a wristband is required when entering a building.
  3. Directing them to the Temperature Screening Stations for screening and to obtain a wristband.
  4. Reminding them to keep 6 feet physical distance from others.

Campus Ambassadors also serve as the point of contact in answering questions from USD visitors, parents, students and employees. They provide directions to campus buildings, departments and offices, and answer any questions related to parking. Campus Ambassadors are present outdoors throughout the campus community, from Monday through Friday. They may enter buildings where groups tend to gather in common shared spaces to provide a friendly reminder of the guidelines.

Campus Ambassadors are visible across campus and are easily identified by their Torero Blue uniforms and backpacks. The Ambassadors are equipped and ready to provide travel-size hand sanitizers or face coverings to anyone who needs or asks for them. They are also able to hand out 2020 USD Fact Books and campus maps to any prospective student touring the campus.
