BSN to DNP Program
Admission Criteria
- BSN or MSN degree from an approved, accredited college or university
- Unencumbered, active California RN license
- One year of acute-care experience as a registered nurse (nurse practitioner applicants)
- One year of clinical experience as a registered nurse preferred (nursing informatics and health systems leadership applicants)
- Experience in emergency nursing, disaster/crisis management, military service or related work experience required (applicants to Family Nurse Practitioner program in Emergency Care only)
- Basic statistics course
- GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Completion of the university application for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program
- Goal statement in the application will require the applicant to demonstrate an understanding of the APRN role for which they are applying and elucidate a specific clinical practice focus and evidence-based clinical issue or problem they plan to address in their DNP Scholarly Practice
- One official transcript from each college or university attended
(An official evaluation by World Education Services (www.wes.org) is required for all international transcripts.) - Three professional recommendations (application instructions)
- Writing Sample (application instructions)
- Resume/CV
- Interview (qualified applicants will be contacted to interview based on initial review of their application)
- Evidence of specified immunizations and screening tests, a report of recent physical examination, and BLS and/or ACLS certification if admitted into the program (ACLS required for applicants to the Family Nurse Practitioner program in Emergency Care)
- International applicants must meet additional requirements for admission
The application deadline is March 1. All materials must be received by this date to receive priority consideration.
