Jessica Williams '16 (PhD)

SOLES alumna Dr. Jessica J. Williams '16 (PhD) is a contributing essayist in You Are Your Best Thing: Vulnerability, Shame Resilience, and the Black Experience, edited by Tarana Burke and Dr. Brené Brown.

We are proud to let our community know that Dr. Jessica J. Williams, 2016 graduate of the Leadership Studies program, has an essay in You Are Your Best Thing: Vulnerability, Shame Resilience, and the Black Experience, which was released on April 27, 2021. The book features "a potent collection of essays on Black shame and healing. Along with the anthology contributors, they create a space to recognize and process the trauma of white supremacy, a space to be vulnerable and affirm the fullness of Black love and Black life".

Congratulations to Dr. Williams on this tremendous accomplishment! Take a moment to watch Dr. Williams share her emotions while unboxing the book and what it means to her.
