Kroc IPJ’s 2021 Women PeaceMakers Fellowship Application CLOSED – Thank You to the Amazing Applicants!

Wednesday, March 25, 2020

In light of rapidly changing circumstances around the world, we have an important update about our 2021 Women PeaceMakers fellowship:

The Fellowship Application Is Now Closed - Applications for 2020-2021 Women PeaceMakers Programs are now closed, thank you all that applied — we are currently reviewing applications. For those who missed this year's opportunity, please keep your eyes open for the application to open again in Spring 2021.

About the Fellowship

Fellowship dates: Over the course of Fall 2020-Summer 2021*

*Please note: The exact dates of the San Diego Residency are still to be announced. The health of our partners and community is our top priority. To ensure we continue to protect both, the dates above and format of the Fellowship are subject to change as new realities might emerge. We will continue to inform you if any other changes occur, and please follow us on Twitter to get these updates as well.

The Women PeaceMakers fellowship offers a unique opportunity for local women peacebuilders to engage in a cycle of learning, practice, research and strengthening of peacebuilding partnerships through participation in a 12-month fellowship. By co-developing evidence-based and data-driven solutions, through this fellowship the women and organizations at the center of our most serious peacebuilding challenges demonstrate why they are best positioned to influence positive change.

During the 12-month fellowship with the Kroc IPJ, Fellows will:

  • Learn from and with other leading Fellows and the Kroc School’s team;
  • Gain new perspectives, support and innovate approaches to peacebuilding;
  • Expand their professional peacebuilding networks;
  • Drive forward vital peacebuilding research that focuses on shifting practice and policy.

The Women PeaceMaker program is based at the University of San Diego’s Kroc School of Peace Studies. To learn more about this fellowship:

This Year’s Fellowship Focus

Each year the fellowship’s research has a specific peacebuilding issue area it is gathering evidence and data on. During this year we will focus on:

How can international peacebuilding organizations better partner with local women peacebuilders to address the closing spaces and increased insecurity women are currently facing when working to end cycles of violence?

During these times of Covid-19, we believe this issue is becoming more relevant as we are seeing a rise in authoritarianism, and women facing greater barriers to their participation in peacebuilding.
