Shushanna thank you

From coast to coast, alumni, parents, students and friends contributed over $12,300 to support the Kroc School's students on USD’s Day of Giving, #ToreroTuesday. We are humbled by your passion for peace and want to say, THANK YOU! All contributions raised will help to fund student scholarships.

Current Kroc School Master's in Peace and Justice (MAPJ) student Shushanna Tevanyan kicked off #ToreroTuesday and made the first gift to the Kroc School student scholarship fund. When we asked her why she gives, she responded, “It is my pleasure and, in a way, our responsibility towards future students! I hope this initiative will be successful!.”

Scholarships are essential for enabling students to become professionals of peace, and they are deeply grateful to those who support their dreams. When we asked current MAPJ student Veronica Musa what she would like to say those who donated on #ToreroTuesday, she replied, “I would not have been able to attend the Kroc School without the financial help provided by generous donors to me through scholarships. In my country, Argentina, student loans are nonexistent, and the difference between our currency and the American dollar makes study in the United States unaffordable for working-class families like mine. I am so grateful for their support. Thank you!"

Scholarships help lighten a student’s financial load and can alleviate some of the stress of financing a Master’s program (on top of looming undergraduate loans). At the Kroc School we are working to bring in scholarship funds to offset our students’ financial concerns. We want our students to be able to focus on their studies and graduate prepared to shape a better world.

Although #ToreroTuesday has passed, please consider making the Kroc School part of your holiday giving this year. Every gift—small or large—counts towards peace and social justice. Make your online gift by December 31 for the 2019 tax year.
