GNSA 2020-2021 Board

Joy GNSA Joy is currently a 2nd-year student in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Family Medicine and Emergency Nurse Practioner program. She graduated from San Diego State with a Bachelor's in Nursing Science. She is currently actively working in the ER and ICU settings while attending school full time. During her first and
second year prior to GSNA, she was the DNP representative and
Graduate student council representative for the School of Nursing.
Her favorite activities are swimming, trying out new recipes, and
Logan Weeks Logan Weeks is a 2nd-year MEPN student at the University of San Diego. This year, Logan will be working as the GNSA VP and the Diversity Club President. Logan received his bachelor's degrees in Kinesiology and Public Health from Oregon State University in 2018. Logan's interest in the field of nursing stems from previous experience participating in public health research related to HIV, as well as interning for a hypertension management program in Haiti. Prior to beginning the MEPN program, Logan worked for the State of Oregon in the Child Protective Services Department. Logan was born and raised in Tillamook, Oregon, located on the beautiful Oregon Coast.
Logan's career goals are to become a Nurse Practitioner and Nursing Educator. Outside of school, he spends his time surfing, snowboarding, and traveling.
Maria Amos Maria Amos is a 3rd-year graduate student at the University of San Diego Hahn School of Nursing pursuing a doctoral degree in Nursing Practice as well as the Nurse Practitioner Degree in dual concentrations of Pediatric and Family medicine. As a first-generation scholar, she witnessed firsthand the devastation due to the lack of access to health care growing up. She completed her first degree at the University of Pittsburgh in Biological Sciences with a minor in chemistry as well as a concentration in Athletic Training. Maria decided to pursue a career in nursing after falling in love with the devotion and commitment she witnessed in the nurses who cared for her in the past. In 2017 she graduated a one year accelerated Bachelor of Nursing degree at the University of Rochester in Upstate New York and is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. Beginning her nursing career at Strong Memorial Hospital in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery, she is currently is employed at UC San Diego Health in the trauma step-down unit. She is driven to pursue a career that implements research directly within the service line to impart action plans for improved patient care. Maria remains devoted to mastering her role as a nurse, which serves as the core foundation in furthering her education. As the field of healthcare evolves, the demand for higher-level providers to meet the increasing acuity of patients grows. Maria recognized that in order to have the degree of impact she desired she must seek to be in a position, which would influence policy change.
Tiffany Duong Tiffany Duong is a 2nd-year MEPN student at USD serving as the 2020-2021 GNSA Secretary. Tiffany is a UC Davis graduate that studied Science and Technology as well as Technology Management in order to apply a
systems-thinking approach towards fighting healthcare disparities. Her interest in bedside care and large scale change led her to pursue a nursing degree as a clinical nurse leader. She has experience working in hospitals representing the Medical Staff and Advanced Practice Providers in various committees, collaborating with stakeholders, and generating buy-in for best-practices changes. Tiffany hopes to help cultivate an environment of shared learning and empower the professional growth of nursing leaders that will tackle the challenges of the changing healthcare landscape together. Outside of school, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, discovering new music, and making meals that look better than they taste.
