USD School of Law Professors Honored at Fall Convocation

SAN DIEGO (September 12, 2023) – Three University of San Diego (USD) School of Law Professors were honored with top university awards for 2023-2024 at the Fall Convocation of the Faculty and Administration held in the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice Theater last week on Friday, September 8, 2023.

Professor of Law Dov Fox, Director, Center for Health Law Policy & Bioethics, was recognized as a University Professor, the highest academic honor bestowed university-wide at USD. University Professors are those who have demonstrated outstanding scholarly achievements in teaching and research supporting the mission and goals of the university.
Professor of Law Adam Hirsch accepted the Herzog Endowed Scholar Award which recognizes the meritorious teaching and scholarly productivity of a professor in the School of Law. It provides funds for professional development or for increased time for research or teaching for a one-year period.
Professor of Law Allen Snyder received The Class of 1975 Endowed Professorship, established by the Class of 1975 as its 25-year reunion gift to the Law School, recognizing meritorious teaching, leadership, and academic accomplishments of a School of Law professor. The Herzog Endowed Scholar and Class of 1975 Endowed Professor honors are limited to eligible School of Law professors.
In total, nine professors from across the university were recognized with various awards. Senior Vice President and Provost Gail F. Baker, PhD, welcomed the award winners and attendees, and Vice President of Mission Integration, Michael Lovette-Colyer, PhD, offered an invocation. Following a greeting by the Chair of the University Senate Steve Sumner, PhD, President James T. Harris, III, DEd, presented the awards as well as the presidential address. At the conclusion of the ceremony, a reception was held in the Garden of the Sea.
